ERT offers sincere thanks to our staff and industry colleagues for their concerted efforts to ensure continued collaborations and the successful dissemination of vital information during the 99th American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting. Despite record levels of uncertainty due to the government shutdown, which impacted participation and resulted in numerous last-minute changes, everyone persevered and enabled “the show” to go on from January 6-10, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona.
We congratulate Rocky Bilotta, Michael Kruk, Chunying Liu, and Valerie Toner for their informative presentations, Nazila Merati for her skillful facilitation of multiple sessions, and CEO Dr. Jingli Yang for her membership and participation in the AMS Committee on Satellite Meteorology, Oceanography, and Climatology. We also proudly note our continued sponsorship efforts, which included a short course entitled, “Applying JPSS Data Products to Better Forecast Challenging Weather Events” and the must-attend event of the week - The University of Oklahoma’s annual reception.
Several members of our corporate management staff enjoyed engaging with visitors at our exhibit, especially those recent or impending graduates looking for an opportunity to begin their careers. Our government counterparts were sorely missed, but we’re looking forward to seeing them – and you – at next year’s Centennial event in Boston.
