ERT is pleased to announce our award of the AWIPS Software Development Team Support Services contract with the Office of Science and Technology (OST). On this task, ERT will provide system analysis and software engineering support for the design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation of the AWIPS functionality.
AWIPS—The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System—is a complex network of systems that ingests and integrates meteorological, hydrological, satellite, and radar data, and also processes and distributes that data to 125 Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) and River Forecast Centers (RFCs) nationwide. Weather forecasters utilize the capabilities of AWIPS to make increasingly accurate weather, water, and climate predictions, and to dispense rapid, highly-reliable warnings and advisories.
With AWIPS deployed to field sites, the user community has started to request new features and enhancements. NWS’s OST charters the AWIPS Software Recommendation and Evaluation Committee (SREC) to review and recommend enhanced or new functionality to the AWIPS software baseline. ERT will assist in the implementation of the new enhancements.
The AWIPS support contract has a 1-year base period of performance with two 1-year options.
