(ERT) announced today the successful transition of 25,000 users of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to the Google Apps for Government email and collaboration platform – the largest transition to Google’s cloud services by a Federal agency to date.

The transition enables NOAA’s highly distributed workforce to access email, documents and data from anywhere, on any internet-connected device, allowing NOAA staff to share information and ideas more easily, with greater efficiency and with significant savings over traditional server solutions.

“ERT congratulates NOAA on a successful transition to Google’s Cloud-based messaging and applications for government services. We and all our team members appreciate the opportunity to have supported NOAA in providing this transformational capability NOAA diverse user community” said Jingli Yang, CEO of ERT.

For this effort, ERT led a team comprised of Google, Unisys and Tempus Nova. In addition to providing the technical expertise, the team also provided training for the NOAA IT workforce and employees, and completed all work on schedule. NOAA transitioned to the new system in early December. The migration effort, including porting 150 million messages, was performed in only six months.
